Where is The Dark Knight's BEST Picture nomination??!?!?!?!
Let us review the facts:
- The Dark Knight was universally-acclaimed: 94% positive reviews @ Rotten Tomatoes. Not to mention the numerous Top Ten lists it has been on which can be seen here at Wikipedia).
- The Dark Knight is the second-highest grossing movie ever (domestically) and is set to pass the billion dollar mark soon. It has broken countless box office records, as can be seen here at Box Office Mojo.
- The performances, direction, cinematography, etc. have all been showered with accolades, especially the late Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker and the direction of Christopher Nolan (who was also snubbed).
- Finally, The Dark Knight transcended its genre and showed us that it is possible for a comic book movie to be relevant, serious, and respected.

Now, let us review the Oscar nominations for Best Picture:
- The Reader, 60% positive reviews @ Rotten Tomatoes
- Milk, 92% positive reviews @ Rotten Tomatoes
- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, 72% positive reviews @ Rotten Tomatoes
- Slumdog Millionaire, 95% positive reviews @ Rotten Tomatoes
- Frost/Nixon, 91% positive reviews @ Rotten Tomatoes

Doesn't seem a little ridiculous that the Academy would choose a mediocre Oscar-bait film like The Reader over The Dark Knight??? I read The Reader by Bernhard Schlink in November and I thought it was well-written and poignant, but clearly the adaptation didn't do the novel justice. I was contemplating watching The Reader this afternoon so that I have a valid reason for disliking it...

As for the three nominees which I have seen: I loved Milk and Slumdog Millionaire and was underwhelmed by The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (beautifully filmed, but it felt too much like Forrest Gump and contained too many clichés).
Seriously people, go see Milk and Slumdog Millionaire. Both are magnificent!

My only other big gripe was Sally Hawkin's lack of a Best Actress nomination for Happy-Go-Lucky. She was brilliant in Happy-Go-Lucky and even won a Golden Globe for her performance.
Here is the trailer, although the trailer really doesn't do justice to how poignant her role is. I thought the movie also brought up some great points about happiness and optimism.
Go watch it!

And while I LOVE Kate Winslet, I don't think she'll win the Oscar this year either unfortunately. And while I'm psyched that Brangelina will be at the awards, I'm not really rooting for either of them at this point.

I'll be rooting for SLUMDOG and TDK on the big night, BBS!!! :D

So basically I'm a slowpoke when it comes to making icons.
Anyhoo, I have like 100+ icons for you. This post is similar to the last post in that I experimented a lot and used lots of different resources.

This post includes: Heath Ledger, Angelina Jolie, Iron Man, James McAvoy, The Dark Knight, Eva Green, Quantum of Solace, Wall-E, Atonement, The Darjeeling Limited, etc.

voilà. )

I just watched The Diving Bell & The Butterfly, an extremely beautiful film. Go watch it. Also watch 3:10 to Yuma.
And of course, go see The Dark Knight if you haven't already seen it. Although, judging by its phenomenal numbers, I'm sure you've already seen it at least twice. ;)

tunage : Coldplay - Amsterdam

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while! I've been going to multiple weddings and on vacation and stuff with my family, so I haven't had much time to post.

However, when I get back from this last wedding, I promise I will post my icons, Dark Knight review, and Breaking Dawn review. :D

Here's a little idea of my feelings on TDK... )
