I prepared a short picspam in honor...
HEATH LEDGER
1979-2008

I only do this because I'm having fun. The day I stop having fun, I'll just walk away. )

I miss him...and I can't believe it has already been a year.
I'll be rooting for you at the Oscars bb. :)

Where is The Dark Knight's BEST Picture nomination??!?!?!?!
Let us review the facts:
- The Dark Knight was universally-acclaimed: 94% positive reviews @ Rotten Tomatoes. Not to mention the numerous Top Ten lists it has been on which can be seen here at Wikipedia).
- The Dark Knight is the second-highest grossing movie ever (domestically) and is set to pass the billion dollar mark soon. It has broken countless box office records, as can be seen here at Box Office Mojo.
- The performances, direction, cinematography, etc. have all been showered with accolades, especially the late Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker and the direction of Christopher Nolan (who was also snubbed).
- Finally, The Dark Knight transcended its genre and showed us that it is possible for a comic book movie to be relevant, serious, and respected.

Now, let us review the Oscar nominations for Best Picture:
- The Reader, 60% positive reviews @ Rotten Tomatoes
- Milk, 92% positive reviews @ Rotten Tomatoes
- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, 72% positive reviews @ Rotten Tomatoes
- Slumdog Millionaire, 95% positive reviews @ Rotten Tomatoes
- Frost/Nixon, 91% positive reviews @ Rotten Tomatoes

Doesn't seem a little ridiculous that the Academy would choose a mediocre Oscar-bait film like The Reader over The Dark Knight??? I read The Reader by Bernhard Schlink in November and I thought it was well-written and poignant, but clearly the adaptation didn't do the novel justice. I was contemplating watching The Reader this afternoon so that I have a valid reason for disliking it...

As for the three nominees which I have seen: I loved Milk and Slumdog Millionaire and was underwhelmed by The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (beautifully filmed, but it felt too much like Forrest Gump and contained too many clichés).
Seriously people, go see Milk and Slumdog Millionaire. Both are magnificent!

My only other big gripe was Sally Hawkin's lack of a Best Actress nomination for Happy-Go-Lucky. She was brilliant in Happy-Go-Lucky and even won a Golden Globe for her performance.
Here is the trailer, although the trailer really doesn't do justice to how poignant her role is. I thought the movie also brought up some great points about happiness and optimism.
Go watch it!

And while I LOVE Kate Winslet, I don't think she'll win the Oscar this year either unfortunately. And while I'm psyched that Brangelina will be at the awards, I'm not really rooting for either of them at this point.

I'll be rooting for SLUMDOG and TDK on the big night, BBS!!! :D

So basically I'm a slowpoke when it comes to making icons.
Anyhoo, I have like 100+ icons for you. This post is similar to the last post in that I experimented a lot and used lots of different resources.

This post includes: Heath Ledger, Angelina Jolie, Iron Man, James McAvoy, The Dark Knight, Eva Green, Quantum of Solace, Wall-E, Atonement, The Darjeeling Limited, etc.

voilà. )

I just watched The Diving Bell & The Butterfly, an extremely beautiful film. Go watch it. Also watch 3:10 to Yuma.
And of course, go see The Dark Knight if you haven't already seen it. Although, judging by its phenomenal numbers, I'm sure you've already seen it at least twice. ;)

So. The last time I posted icons was March 16. More than 3 months ago.
I am incredibly sorry for that. The end of the school year is always super hectic for me because I'm on the varsity tennis team for my school and then teachers give you research papers and an exceptional amount of work in order to cram everything in. It is a nightmare. However, I managed to make a few icons here and there and so I have a modest post of about 130 icons. :)

Anyways, sorry for neglecting my icon-making duties! I assure you that I will post icons much more frequently this summer. :D

These icons are a little bit weird, probably because I've been experimenting a lot. I'm not sure how I feel about a good percentage of them.

This post contains: Angelina Jolie, Heath Ledger, Iron Man, Tomb Raider, Wanted, The Darjeeling Limited, and assorted movies and celebrities.

The truth is...I am Iron Man. )

Hope you like these. Sorry for the wait again!
P.S. I freakin' LOVE the new Coldplay CD. Go buy it people!

Here are about 120-130 icons that I made over the past two months. :)

This post contains: lots of Heath Ledger, Atonement, James McAvoy, Keira Knightley, Eva Green, Natalie Portman, Angelina Jolie, etc.

PREVIEW:

Well, why don't you? Why don't you just let me be? It's because of you Jack, that I'm like this! I'm nothin'... I'm nowhere... )

Brokeback Mountain is a beautiful movie. I feel that it deserved every bit of praise it was given. If you haven't seen it, watch it for its quality as a film, at least. And if you have problems with the gay themes, that's hardly the point or message of the movie. I watched it as two people falling in love and didn't have a problem with it. If you watch it as "the gay cowboy movie," you'll ruin it for yourself. Watch it with an open mind and you'll appreciate it.

But anyways, I made very simplistic icons of the movie because I didn't want to mess with such beautiful caps. Hence the lack of textures, text, and brushes.

Also, I hope I did Heath justice in those icons. I'm kind of glad I took my time making these. I think it would have felt a little bit too rushed and clichéd if I had posted them the day or week after his death. And also, I was still working on them because I am a slow-poke when it comes to creating icons. I miss you Heath.

Hope you like the icons! :)
I'll post these in other communities a little bit later. I have to go practice the piano now...

james mcavoy, you are a sexy beast.
that is a fact. not a theory. it has been proven to me many times.
I believe that many of you have seen the light as well? :)

I just went to see Penelope.
OMG. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG.

Aren't you all dead from the sexiness? :)
James McAvoy was unbelievably sexy and charming in Penelope and if I hadn't been in the movie theater with lots of people around me, I would've been proclaiming my love like every two minutes. That's what his sexiness does.

Check out my sexy icon made by Claudia ([info]whitegoldpearls). It's James being sexy in Atonement. Recently, I have watched lots of Heath and James movies. And they have all been awesome (well, Brothers Grimm and Lords of Dogtown were not the best movies in the world, but they were good. Because of Heath basically.)

More sexiness to follow. I plan on making lots of James McAvoy icons. The time has come. I decided that I cannot sit around and browse the internet any longer. I also have some Heath icons and other stuff.

Oh, btw. New layout! Heath. :)

In other news, I have icons and a picture post of Heath coming up. When I get the time...
I watched Brokeback Mountain and I think it deserved every bit of praise it got. And not just because of Heath, it was a really good movie. I'm still sad about his death. I feel really bad for his family and I still...Idk.

I keep trying to make icons of Heath. And everytime I open up pictures of him, I just can't do it.
I cried like all Tuesday afternoon. And it's been all I can think of this week.
This one scene in 10 Things I Hate About You makes me want to cry because it keeps running through my head and then I remember that he'll never smile like that again. And I'll never hear my favorite accent again.

Rest in peace Heath.
Btw, my new journal title is from this one part in 10 Things I Hate About You when Heath and Julia Stiles are talking on the porch. And I hate peas as well.

I still can't believe it.

P.S. I'll post my Twilight,etc. reviews soon.
Oh, and Jacob is my favorite character. Shoot me.
I'll explain later.
